Privacy & cookie policy
Bulldog Broadband ("we", "us") runs Bulldog Broadband, a service that helps you compare broadband deals and passes your request to the provider you choose. We are the data controller for the information you give us.
What we collect
- Your name, email, phone number, address and postcode.
- Your quiz answers (such as home type, usage, current provider and approximate bill) and the deal and extras you choose.
- Every postcode you search on the site, even if you don't go on to enquire.
- Which pages you view and which quiz steps and buttons you use, linked to an anonymous ID stored in your browser, so we can see where the site is confusing and improve it.
- Predicted line speeds for your address from Ofcom's public Connected Nations data.
- Technical data such as IP address, device type, browser, operating system, screen size, language, approximate country, the page you arrived on, the advert or website that referred you, and an anonymous visitor ID stored in your browser so we can tell new from returning visitors.
When you search a postcode, broadband providers whose packages were shown to you can see anonymous search statistics (postcode, date, device type and how you found us). They never see your IP address or visitor ID, and only see your name and contact details if you order and agree to us sharing them.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
- To show deals available at your address - legitimate interests.
- To handle your order or callback request - steps taken at your request before entering a contract.
- To pass your details to the provider you chose (or its authorised sales partner) so it can confirm availability and arrange your order - your consent, given at checkout.
- To email you the deals you asked us to send, and one reminder if you ticked the box - your consent.
- To prevent fraud and spam - legitimate interests.
Who we share it with
The broadband provider or partner you select; our email delivery provider (Mailjet); and our hosting provider. If you accept cookies, Google and Meta receive limited usage data (see below). We never sell your details to anyone you haven't chosen.
Cookies
We use your browser's local storage to remember your quiz answers for 24 hours, which is essential to the service. With your consent only, we use Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta Pixel cookies to measure visits and the performance of our adverts. You can change your choice at any time: reset my cookie choice.
How long we keep it
Lead data is kept for up to 24 months, then deleted. Saved-deal emails are kept for up to 6 months.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
